Good features but scratches dvd's, December 29, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Power Acoustik HDVD-73BG Single 7-Inch Replacement Headrest with DVD and Video Monitor (Beige) (Electronics) I purchased this model based on the features and price. The picture quality is very good. FM transmission to the stereo works well, but interference can be bothersome. The IR transmission to the headphones works well. Installation is fairly straight-forward.
The problem came about 1 week after installation. The dvd player began skipping. When I opened the lid and removed the disk, there was a 2 mm groove circumferentially around the outer margin of the disk about 1 cm from the edge. I didn't see anything in the player, so I put another movie in and the same scratch pattern appeared. Looking more closely at the optics, there is no cover over the laser reader unlike other models that show the "sony" cover. This may just be a defective item, but I'm not taking the chance. Fortunately amazon customer service allowed for return of the item. It's disappointing that what would otherwise be a good product has a major flaw.

Mine scratches dvds too!!!, January 21, 2010 By This review is from: Power Acoustik HDVD-73GR Single 7-Inch Replacement Headrest with DVD and Video Monitor (Gray) (Electronics) Nice display, super easy installation. The problem is the plastic ribbon that connects the dvd reader eye to the circut board is cut way too long. This causes the ribbon to bow upward when the laser eye is reading the outer portions of the dvd. Mine worked good for about a month before it began scratching everything that was put into it. Don't buy this player, power acoustik looks like a reputable company with good products at really good prices but they arent. The installation instructions were a 1 page Xerox. These dvd players are only warranted for 30 days if you install them and 12 months if it's "professionally" done. Don't buy these...
