Decent sound for the price, color spectrum display is annoying, August 18, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Boss 639UA In-Dash MP3 Compatible CD Receiver (Electronics) While this unit is a major improvement over my Ford truck's factory stereo, I had to spend some time disassembling the faceplate in order to disable the color spectrum display on the control dial. There is no other way to avoid the crazy clown light show blinking colors at slow and fast intervals continuously from my dash. Product description indicated this color cycling could be programmed to stop at a particular color, but that is just not so. It's a defective feature and probably is the reason why this model is deeply discounted.

I bought the Boss 639UA. It's not a bad stereo, my only gripe is that to see the clock you HAVE to have the remote. There should've been an option to set the display on clock instead of having to push a button on the remote. Also, I cannot figure out how to select the color I want instead of the random flashing colors. But all in all it's a good stereo and met our needs.

This unit is great for the price. I play music through the usb port or sd cad slot with clarity at high volume. What I don't like about this unit: it takes forever to read a cd (about 45 seconds) and the faceplate should be motorized, easy to break when removing it. I recommend this product to anyone who enjoys great sounding music at a low price.
